The Dallas Area Senior Games are part of a
national organization set up by various states and the
federal government to help "Senior Citizens"
(men and women over 50) stay
athletically active. There are regional qualifiers
for State and National Championships. This year with
a new venue, the Dallas Games held all four cycling events
- 5K TT, 10K TT, 20K Road Race and the 40K Road Race on
April 24th and 25th. TBi has been a contender in
these games for the past 5 years and this year was no
exception. Art Pacione, Andy Hollinger, Paul Boldt,
Dean Wilkinson, Wayne Alexander, Heinz Wichterlich
(Alumnus), Jim Connally (Official), Don Merritt, and even
Wally Swanson wore his TBi Jersey! Saturday 4/24 was
a horrible day of rain, though many TBi participants
medaled.
Sunday's 40K Road Race produced the
pictures below including three tremendous sprint finishes
- the 55-59 catagory between Wayne Alexander and Art
Pacione, the third place sprint between Andy Hollinger and
the fourth place finisher and Don Merritt sprinting for
his second Road Race gold against an Oklahoma challenger.
